BJNZMBA/COL/221208/02 -- An experienced Mammographer with a postgraduate certificate in mammography is sought to join a team of professionals providing a screening service to its clients. The postholder is responsible for delivering highly skilled, patient-focused care within the breast imaging service and for the safe and efficient use of expensive and complex technical equipment. The successful candidate will provide day to day clinical leadership to a small multi-disciplinary team, manage workload and liaise with clerical staff and radiographic helpers.

Responsibilities:
Conduct a range of examinations within the Breast Screening centre and mobile units upon a range of patient types both as an autonomous practitioner (working to set protocol) and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Able to interpret clinicians requirements to determine the appropriate radiographic technique and ensure that it is performed in accordance with best practice and the resultant images are diagnostic.
Responsible for input into the appointment scheduling and monitoring of waiting lists to ensure efficient use of resources.
Offer a verbal interpretation of images taken by them or their junior colleagues and provide consultative advice to other practitioners and clinicians.
Utilise supporting evidence to help develop practice and protocols within the Breast Screening service to ensure continuous development of the service. Propose appropriate changes to working practice to improve patient care and service delivery.
Be available as a source of advice and professional leadership and be able to cope with multiple demands during the day.
Efficiently control the workflow patterns within the department and perform all administrative tasks required, including data entry onto the computer system.
Responsible for ensuring that your work and the work of the staff you are supervising is carried out in an effective and efficient manner.
To maintain client and patient confidentiality at all times.
Be aware of budgetary pressures when ordering the film and chemicals for the department, maintaining stock and undertaking regular stock control at the centre and mobile units.
Responsible for the implementation and interpretation of quality assurance and quality control programmes.
Be vigilant in identifying equipment faults and refer deficiencies through to line manager for repair.
Devise and participate in regular audit projects and contribute to the departmental quality projects.
Contribute to safe working practices, recognise issues and suggest solutions.
Maintain the working environment to appropriate standards in a tidy, clean and operational state and work in such a way that accidents are avoided.
Be responsible for the supervision of support staff and practitioner radiographers.
Be actively involved in the instruction and training of assistant practitioners and practitioners to promote high standards of radiography.
Contribute to the departmental recruitment process, participating in interview panels if required.
Identify training needs of self and others. Contribute to the departmental education programme.
Support and assist the postgraduate studies of mammography trainees during clinical training.
Must be able to maintain a high level of concentration in a fast-paced clinic in order to produce the specialist radiographic and imaging techniques demanded by the service.
To transport x-ray films, chemicals and clinic documentation to the mobile units.
To maintain darkroom and image processing equipment on the mobile units involving movement of heavy equipment in a confined space whilst exposed to hazardous chemicals.
Requirements:
B.Sc. in Radiography or equivalent.
Health Professionals Council, UK registration.
Ideally a minimum of 3 years clinical experience post qualification.
Hold the Postgraduate Certificate of Competence in Mammography Practice.
Current driving license.
